Destination Guide - Badami


Badami, also known as Vatapi in early years, is a panchayat town in the Bagalkot District of Karnataka. Badami is especially famous for its four cave temples, Cave I is dedicated to Lord Shiva, having pillars with square bases and carvings on the upper part. Cave II is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his carnations. Third cave temple is too dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is located at the base of the rock face. Fourth cave temple is believed to be a later construction & is dedicated to the Jain deities. The nearest airport from Badami is Belgaum Airport.
